The company says the new project will satisfy the growing demand for additional capacity in the Northern Virginia and DC metro area by augmenting and supplementing FiberLight’s current network reach.
“This new fiber network overbuild provides FiberLight with a unique advantage in the region as capacity grows increasingly scarce,” said FiberLight CEO Don MacNeil.
He said that a growing number of enterprises are using cloud solutions. “We are committed meeting this demand by providing the market with the highest quality connectivity to key destinations.”
The data centre business in Ashburn is expected to increase by 35%, said the company. “FiberLight is committed to enabling reliable connectivity solutions for the data centre marketplace.” Ashburn is north-west of Washington DC, close to Dulles airport.
FiberLight owns and manages over 1.7 million fibre miles in over 44 metro areas across the US, with over 17,000 backbone access points, 1,700 on-net locations and presence in over 100 data centres across the country.
