A1 Telekom Austria joins ngena as alliance partner

A1 Telekom Austria is the latest telecoms operator to join the Next Generation Enterprise Network Alliance (ngena), which looks at how to build a truly global SD-WAN.

ngena was set up at Mobile World Congress in 2016 and has seen more than 15 international members join the partnership, with A1 Telekom Austria the latest to sign up.

Franz Bader, director wholesale A1 Telekom Austria Group said:" It is a great opportunity for A1 Telekom Austria Group to contribute to the ngena alliance. By sharing the existing resources of partners on a global scale we can serve the ever more demanding requirements of our customers and we are going to compete with the largest international players.

“The combination of SDN-technology, full automation and the unique sharing business model of ngena is unmatched. It goes above and beyond other SD-WAN models."

ngena’s partners share their networks, cloud infrastructure and know-how in an effort to develop a global SD-WAN managed by a central platform. This would result in a new enterprise network that is easy to use, highly scalable and fast to deploy, ngena claims.

Founded by Deutsche Telekom, CenturyLink, Reliance Jio and SK Telekom, other partners include Altice with SFR and Portugal Telecom, Expereo, KPN, Neutrona, Starhub, Telus and PCCW Global plus technology partners Cisco, Comarch and Equinix.

Alessandro Adriani, Managing Director of ngena: "With A1 Telekom Austria Group an important and strong European telecommunication provider joins ngena to market and deliver our innovative Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) solution to their end-customers.

“Besides the Austrian market, ngena can serve carriers and enterprise customers in all relevant regions around the globe and provide them with secure, stable, scalable and easy to use Virtual Private Network (VPN) services.”
