Cyxtera partners with Megaport for elastic interconnection services

Cyxtera Technologies has partnered with Megaport to offer elastic interconnection services in Dallas, Phoenix, Washington D.C. and London.

Cyxtera, which has a combined worldwide footprint of 57 data centres, will use Megaport Connectivity to offer direct connections to public cloud platforms; rapid provisioning; and an ecosystem of more than 240 service providers.

Other key benefits of the new offering, highlighted by Cyxtera, include elastic design with 1Mbps to 10Gbps options, and ease of use and the tools needed to build an on-demand network.

“Hybrid IT is more distributed and diverse than ever,” said Randy Rowland, chief product officer for Cyxtera.

“Our partnership with Megaport addresses the ever-growing customer demand for direct access to hyperscale cloud environments and global network connectivity. Cyxtera’s philosophy is to offer organizations the best connectivity choices so they can take full advantage of innovative technologies. Megaport helps us deliver that through their SDN platform.”

“Customers need the ability to rapidly connect their mission critical infrastructure within data centers to cloud providers,” said Nicole Cooper, executive vice president, North America for Megaport.

“Through Cyxtera, we can bring Megaport’s flexible SDN to even more organizations, thereby helping lower the barrier for cloud adoption by eliminating long-term, fixed bandwidth circuits. This reduces costs, improves performance and ensures greater security for their applications, making it easier to provision connectivity to key service providers.”
