Green Mountain joins the Open Compute Project Foundation

Norwegian wholesale colocation data centre provider, Green Mountain, has joined the Open Compute Project (OCP) Foundation.

Green Mountain, which announced in September that its CEO, Knut Molaug, was set to step down and named his successor, will join the collaborative community, focussed on redesigning hardware technology to efficiently support the growing demands on compute infrastructure, as a community level member.

“Through our partnerships with OCP approved providers, we are able to ensure that our data centres are filled with the latest innovative technologies to ensure that our customers are getting the best solutions,” said Thomas Løken, CCO of Green Mountain.

Founded in 2011 by Facebook, Intel and Rackspace, OCP reimagines hardware, making it more efficient, flexible and scalable. Through creating a global community of technology leaders, innovators are working together to break open the black box of proprietary IT infrastructure to rapidly increase the pace of innovation in, near and around the data centre to achieve greater choice, customisation and cost savings.

Tor Kristian Gyland, CEO of Green Mountain, who replaced the aforementioned Knut Molaug as CEO, added: “By utilising hardware that allows organisations to reduce overhead cost in their IT infrastructure, our customers are able to benefit from a facility which has the scalability and flexibility to support their needs and future-proof their business.”
