Global Carrier Awards 2017 - Winners announced

The 13th Global Carrier Awards saw around 400 members of the community celebrating industry achievements over the last year, with Interoute and Colt Technology Services among the big winners at this year’s event.

Ed Stafford – the first man to walk the Amazon and a Guinness World Record holder - was guest speaker at the GCAs, which were held at the Intercontinental O2 Hotel in London.

Both Interoute and Colt took home three awards each, with the former picking up gongs for the Best Marketing Campaign, Best Cloud Innovation, and Best Pan-European Wholesale Carrier; and Colt taking home awards in Best Wholesale Sales Team, Best SDN/NFV Deployment, and Best Asian Project.

Equinix was named best data centre, while datamena was recognised for data centre innovation. DE-CIX bagged an award for best internet exchange and France-IX picked up a gong for best internet exchange innovation.

IDT won the gong for best marketing team, while GlobeNet took the award for best social media campaign, and Deutsche Telekom ICSS recognised as best marketing campaign around innovation.

C&W Networks won a gong for best strategic acquisition while Turk Telekom International won for best customer testimony. Bell Canada took an award for best workplace initiative. In the innovation category, Infobip went home with the trophy for best anti-fraud innovation, while Deutsche Telekom ICSS also bagged a gong, for best data centre innovation in mature markets.

PCCW Global took an award for best data service innovation in emerging markets, while Best Network Technology Innovation went to Epsilon. The award for Best Subsea Innovation was won by SEA-ME-WE 5, while the Best Voice Service Innovation - Mature Markets went to Linxa. Airtel Business was recognised for best voice service innovation in emerging markets.

Best unified communications innovation went to Epsilon, while best OTT partnership went to Neutrona Networks, and best IPX service was won by Telefonica Business Solutions.

In the technology innovation category, Fastlink was recognised for its 4G deployment, while Neutrona Networks won a gong for best OSS/BSS deployment. 

A number of regional and global project awards were also handed out by Capacity CEO Irving and Capacity Media editor Jason McGee-Abe, who hosted the evening.

Sudatel won best African project, while the European project award went to OTEglobe, with FirstLight taking home the award for the Americas. datamena took the award for best Asian project, while terrestrial project of the year was won by HGC, and subsea project was won by Aqua Comms.

Liquid Telecom was named as the best African wholesale carrier, while Reliance Communications and Global Cloud Xchange took the gong for the Asia region. Turk Telekom International was named best Eastern European and CIS wholesale carrier, while C&W Networks won the award for best Latin America wholesale carrier.

Saudi Telecom Company won for the Middle East wholesale carrier category, with NTT Communications named best North America wholesale carrier and best global wholesale carrier for data. Last but by no means least, Orange International Carriers took the award for best wholesale carrier of voice.
