AT&T has launched its fibre service into four more cities, increasing coverage from 57 to 61 metro areas.

The new areas are Columbus and Macon in Georgia, Layfayette, Louisiana, and Montgomery, Alabama, said AT&T.

The latest roll-out takes AT&T Fiber to 6 million locations in 21 states. The company plans to expand its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service to 7 million by the end of the year. “We plan to reach at least 12.5 million locations by mid-2019,” said AT&T.

According to a map on the company’s website, FTTH construction in 14 more cities is already under way, taking the total to 75.

The standard prices start at $40 a month for fibre internet only. The company’s DirecTV service plus internet costs $80 a month. The complete package, with home phone, is $99.99 a month. Internet speeds on all three packages are “up to 50Mbps”, says AT&T. Faster speeds “up to 75Mbps” are available in certain areas, the company notes.
