Neutral interconnection and data centre provider Cologix has launched the availability of AWS Direct Connect cloud service from its facility in Vancouver.

AWS Direct Connect allows customers to connect infrastructure through a secure and private connection to the AWS Cloud, which boosts performance and reduces costs, according to Cologix.

The Vancouver deployment of AWS Direct Connect with Cologix provides customers secure access to the AWS Canada region from the node, which will reside at Cologix's VAN2 data centre.

Cologix provides connectivity to more than 40 unique networks and direct access to the Vancouver Internet Exchange (VANIX). The latest node means Cologix offers AWS Direct Connect services to customers in Vancouver, Dallas, New Jersey and Toronto.

"We are pleased to add Vancouver to Montreal and Columbus on the list of markets where Cologix supports the native AWS Direct Connect node. Vancouver is a growth market further validates that it is as a key market for interconnection," said Grant van Rooyen, president and CEO, Cologix.

"Customers can greatly benefit from connecting to AWS via the lowest latency option through our data centre and we look forward to enabling the Vancouver demand."
