TE SubCom launches new network operations centre solution

TE SubCom, a provider of undersea communications technology, has announced the launch of a global network operations centre (NOC) solution.

The new offering is designed to provide cable operators with a single source for fault, configuration, alarm, performance, security and maintenance network management.

Don Rotunno, managing director of sales operations at TE SubCom, said: “With the ongoing surge in undersea cable investment, more operators are searching for reliable network operations services. They’re finding they need providers that truly understand undersea networks and how to optimize their life cycles. Undersea communications is SubCom’s business and the expertise we’ve amassed over decades in the industry will immediately benefit users of our new NOC solution. Cable owners should have assurance that their networks are healthy and maintained, and SubCom is the ideal organization to provide that peace of mind.”

SubCom’s primary and secondary NOC solutions are both vendor-neutral and have the ability to conform to any customer requirements and integrate into its operational flow. In addition, cable operators will now have global 24×7×365 coverage as well as high-level regional visibility of their networks.

The Monet subsea cable has already selected SubCom’s NOC solution. The 10,556km cable is owned and operated by Algar Telecom, a Brazilian telecoms company and internet service provider, Angola Cables, the Angolan operator of fibre optic cables, ANTEL, a Uruguayan telecoms company, and Google. The six-fibre pair cable system landed at Boca Raton, Florida and once the system is live, it will extend Monet’s capacity beyond Miami to other locations in North America.

Other features of the new NOC solution include securities technologies and management processes, customised support specific to customer monitoring requirements and customised reporting capabilities including service desk trouble ticket management.

In July TE SubCom announced that it had contracted with Deep Blue Cable to build and deploy the Deep Blue subsea cable system. The pan-Caribbean system spans nearly 12,000km with landing points throughout the region, including the Cayman Islands, Curaçao, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, and Turks & Caicos Islands.
