Appleby to step down from Digital Realty

Digital Realty has announced a management transition which will see chief operating officer (COO) Jarrett Appleby leave the company, effective 15 September 2017.

The global data centre, colocation and interconnection solutions provider said that Appleby will be leaving “to pursue other opportunities” and Digital Realty has initiated a search for a new COO and expects to retain a leading executive search firm to assist with the search.

"On behalf of the entire Digital Realty team, I would like to thank Jarrett for his service to the company and wish him all the best in his future endeavours," said chief executive officer A. William Stein.

"Jarrett helped to launch and advance several important initiatives, such as expanding and standardising our global product offerings in addition to streamlining our property and technical operations to drive operating efficiencies, all while maintaining and extending our track record for 'five nines' of uptime to a 10th consecutive year.  As we search for his successor, we are looking for someone who will be able to build upon this solid foundation and further enhance our global operating platform to meet our customers' growing and evolving needs for data centre solutions."

Digital Realty management team members will assume Appleby's duties in the interim until a successor is identified. Appleby, who joined Digital Realty back in April 2015 as the company’s first chief operating officer, was tasked with corporate strategy and global operations.

Capacity interviewed Appleby in May this year about the company’s transformation after buying Telx for $1.9 billion. The company’s connected campus strategy, and its evolving Service Exchange platform.
