NetIX launches into the US with Miami PoP

NetIX, a distributed exchange platform, has expanded its global presence by launching a new point of presence (PoP) in the US.

The company, which partnered with Sparkle earlier this year whereby the international service arm of TIM Group offered its Seabone global IP transit services to NetIX members, has established a PoP in the Equinix Miami (MI1) data centre.

Equinix MI1 provides data traffic from the Caribbean and South and Central America, making this data centre the gateway to the Americas. MI1 is built 32 feet above sea level and is designed to withstand Category 5 hurricane-level winds.

NetIX’s platform provides content creators and users with faster, cheaper and more direct connectivity.

“NetIX is making the leap needed to begin interconnections with the North and Latin Americas,” a company statement said.

“The company changes the peering landscape by opening a site out of Europe. The new PoP is operational and ready to serve NetIX's clients in the region.”

The NetIX network currently connects 20 IXPs, serves more than 90 members reaching more than 2,900 direct peers in 21 data centres delivering more than 360Gbps of traffic.
