Optus will deliver access to the nbn, Australia’s network which is currently being rolled out across the country, to BTB, which it will then on-sell to clients such as retail energy client WINconnect. This will enable WINconnect to offer nbn services to its retail customer base.
John Castro, vice president of sales and marketing at Optus Wholesale, said, “This relationship is unique in that it highlights the support existing nbn™ resellers or potential resellers can access to enter the nbn™ market without building a telecommunications business from scratch.”
BTB said other potential resellers will also be able to leverage its back end operations in order to focus on sales and marketing. BTB delivers a while label service which includes customer services, technical support, billing, debt collection, network design and a finished nbn product.
Brendon Brackin, managing director, BTB Australia said, “The partnership between WINconnect and BTB highlights how easy it is to enter the nbn market by partnering with BTB. The partnership between BTB and Optus presents an opportunity for many brands and companies to enter a large segment of the telecommunications market with very little obstruction or capital investment.”
It comes as Optus has also unveiled a partnership with Newcrest Minin’s Cadia Valley Operations, Infigen Energey, and Chinese vendor Huawei in order to construct a new mobile tower in the Cadia district of New South Wales.
The area currently has no dedicated mobile tower support, so potential locations are currently being investigated, with the aim of improving coverage to local homes and businesses.
