PwC appoints director to lead telecoms strategy

PwC hires Brian Burns as a director to continue expanding its technology, media & telecommunications (TMT) deals strategy and operations team in London.

Burns joins from telecoms consulting and research firm, Analysys Mason, with nearly 10 years’ experience in telecoms strategic advisory work. He advises leading firms and investors in the sector on market, strategic and commercial considerations, and is particularly knowledgeable on building and creating sustainable value.

This focus on value is an important part of PwC’s deals strategy and operations group at PwC, where Burns will lead on telecoms strategy and grow the deals business. He will help PwC's telecoms clients with corporate strategy and M&A activity.

“The telecoms industry continues to see substantial technological development, market disruption and innovative financing trends. It’s a highly dynamic market with significant opportunities and risks for both operators and investors. I’m pleased to join the PwC team at an exciting time and look forward to supporting clients on corporate strategy and transaction projects," said Burns on his appointment.

The TMT industry continues to see strong levels of investment and this appointment further adds to PwC’s capability advising the sector to help maximise returns.

Nick George, strategy partner and TMT deals leader at PwC, added: “We anticipate continued significant TMT market activity, with a strong deals pipeline for the second half of this year. PwC is investing heavily in capability across TMT, and in helping clients throughout the whole deals cycle - from strategy and execution through to daily operations - to help identify and realise maximum value. As the leading advisory firm on deals we are delighted Brian is joining us to build out this core area.”
