Intelsat makes three appointments in leadership restructure

Intelsat has announced a restructure of its leadership team and three new appointments to head up broadband, mobility and media services segments at the satellite company.

Current vice president of EMEA Jean-Philippe Gillet (pictured above, centre) will lead a team overseeing strategy and deployments in broadband as part of his new role as VP and general manager of broadband. Gillet has more than 20 years of experience working in the satellite industry, 14 years of which were spent at Intelsat in a variety of sales leadership positions.

Vice president of Americas Mark Rasmussen (above, left) will head up Intelsat’s mobility unit, offering satellite services across the maritime, oil and gas, and aeronautics sectors. Rasmussen, who has been with Intelsat since 2004, will be tasked with overseeing the expansion of IntelsatOne Flex Maritime and Aeronautic managed services.

The restructure has also seen former Time Warner Cable exec Robert Cerbone (above, right) join the satellite company, heading up its media services business.

Cerbone most recently served as TWC VP and general manager for wireless products, overseeing the company’s relationship with Verizon Wireless.

In his new role, Cerbone will be responsible for the development of Intelsat’s linear and non-linear media strategy, new products and services, and new media initiatives worldwide.

“This change to our leadership structure is a reflection of the dynamic evolution currently taking place in the telecommunications landscape,” said Kurt Riegelman, Intelsat’s SVP of sales and marketing.

“Our customers require transformative technology to solve their challenges and ubiquitous, reliable connectivity that is accessible anytime and anywhere. Our new organizational structure, aligned more closely to the major customer sets served by our business, meets those needs while bringing new agility to our market presence, greater innovations and value to our customers, and accelerated growth for our business initiatives.”
