du launches new teleport facility in Dubai

du has unveiled a new teleport facility aimed at meeting the growing demands for the Dubai-based company’s broadcast customer base.

The 7,500 square metre facility, which is located at the Al Qudra area of Dubai, is designed to accommodate up to 50 earth station antenna systems.

UAE’s du has seen the number of TV channels being uplinked by its current teleport facility grow by 600% since it started operations in 2004, with this site set to cater to the growth in demand.

The initial planning of du’s new Teleport site started in 2010 and building work first started in 2012, with further scale added as demand grew.

“In order for du to meet the growing requirements of customers in the region and internationally we have come up with our new Teleport facility,” said Ahmed Al Muhaideb, vice president, broadcasting and IPTV services.

“Today, ours is the top ranked teleport in the MENA region and is already one of the top ten independent operators in the world. As broadcast requirements continue to proliferate, we will endeavour to innovate and offer our customers new broadcast solutions that will deliver on superior quality of service.”
