BT promotes Jennifer Artley to head Americas

Jennifer Artley has been promoted to be president of BT in the Americas, succeeding Bas Burger, who became CEO of BT Global Services last month.

Artley will head an organisation of 3,800 people in 28 countries in North and South America and the Caribbean, with 2,700 customers.

“The Americas are a very promising market, with more than 70% of our global customers having a presence in the region,” said Artley. “I’m also looking forward to continuing our own transformation to become a more digital business.”

In May BT said it was to cut back its Global Services division after having to write off £530 million because of a financial scandal in its Italian operations

Burger said: “The Americas hold a significant opportunity to support BT’s growth ambitions as a leading global business communications provider. I am fully confident that Jennifer will continue to grow and transform our business to best meet the needs of our customers.”

Artley has worked with BT for three years, joining at first as chief operating officer of BT Americas. Before that she spent a few months at Equinix, but much of her career was at Level 3 Communications, where she worked 13 years, finishing as senior vice president for commercial enablement.
