Cogeco Peer 1 ditches in-house CDN and partners with Limelight Networks

Limelight Networks has today announced that Cogeco Peer 1, a global provider of secure cloud, network and managed IT services, is using its global content delivery network (CDN) to enhance its customers’ web experiences.

“We’re in the business of helping our customers achieve their goals by providing the best possible end-to-end website experience,” said Jason Vigus, product manager for managed services at Cogeco Peer 1. “With Limelight we can give them the highest level of service so they can maximise the benefits of the Internet and help turn visits into revenue.”

Cogeco Peer 1, which provides CDNs for the BBC, Channel 4 and Arsenal, had an in-house CDN for customers in North America and Europe, but were limited in providing coverage worldwide as geographical demand grew.

The wholly-owned subsidiary of Cogeco Communications decided to move to Limelight, which “allowed for global expansion and fast, reliable service,” the company said. With Limelight’s CDN, Cogeco Peer 1 has achieved a marked increase in customer traffic, a significant improvement in delivery speed, and is now able to seamlessly expand into more countries. In addition, Limelight’s large global network allows them to expand worldwide.

Jonathan Smith, group vice president and managing director of EMEA at Limelight Networks, added: "Cogeco Peer 1 is focused on providing the fastest and most reliable service possible to their customers. Limelight has helped improve their customers’ conversion rates which in turn helps them grow their business. Limelight is focused on providing best possible quality of experience on any device anywhere in the world and it’s exciting to see the impact this brings to both Cogeco Peer 1 and their customers.”
