ViaSat becomes first satellite firm to join DSA

ViaSat has become the first broadband satellite provider to sign up to the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance.

The DSA is a global organisation which lobbies for the introduction of laws and regulations that will lead to more efficient spectrum utilisation. The DSA’s membership spans multinationals, small- and medium-sized enterprises, and academic, research, and other organizations from around the world.

ViaSat announced it was becoming the first broadband satellite firm to join the DSA because its goals of increasing connectivity across the globe aligned with the organisations.

ViaSat joining the DSA is a significant moment in the history of the Alliance,” said Kalpak Gude, president of the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance. “It highlights that, as an Alliance, we take a broad approach to the efficient and effective management of spectrum, which is fundamental to bridging the digital divide.

ViaSat’s focus on increasing worldwide connectivity, which can help to alleviate the spectrum crunch and connect the unconnected, aligns with several of the DSA’s core goals.”
