HGC and PLDT Inc. partner to enhance OTT connectivity in APAC region

PLDT Inc., the Philippines’ leading telecommunications and digital services provider, and HGC are joining forces to provide world-class connectivity solutions to expand business opportunities for OTTs, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.

The continuous development of OTT video streaming services, online gaming, and e-commerce markets has led to the increase in demand for bandwidth capacity, stable network connectivity, as well as a higher level of service from both regional and global providers.

HGC and PLDT Inc. signed a joint marketing agreement (JMA) to bring together the two organizations’ marketing and technology expertise in the Asia-Pacific region. This includes end-to-end service provisioning, mainly via the Asia America Gateway (AAG) and Asia Pacific Cable Network (APCN-2) cable system. With this convergence, enterprise customers are now provided with enhanced connectivity across the globe.

The main goal of the convergence is to enable the emergence of more OTT business with one-stop network management and ICT solutions. Through HGC and PLDT Inc.’s joint data connectivity services, OTTs, content providers, service providers, and enterprises can now enjoy end-to-end last mile services, more efficient service provisioning, and greater reach to a worldwide audience.

“Our collaboration with valuable partners like HGC provides us with exciting avenues to further explore how we at PLDT can continue to innovate and provide our customers with world-class service through technology,” shared Jojo Gendrano, PLDT VP and head of enterprise core business solutions.

Cliff Tam, HGC’s vice president of carrier data, international business, added: “We are delighted to collaborate with PLDT. With our extensive and highly resilient global network, as well as experienced in serving the OTT industry, we are confident to meet existing and future OTT customers’ needs in this digital ecosystem. We believe this agreement not only strengthens HGC’s international network reach, but also brings potential OTT business opportunities in the Asia Pacific Region.”
