Telefónica Business Solutions launches new WAN2Cloud service for carriers

Telefónica Business Solutions has launched a new WAN2Cloud service providing private, secure and reliable connectivity to public cloud service providers (CSPs) using our global MPLS network.

With this service carriers will be able to expand their portfolio without investment or upfront costs, helping their existing customers in their digital transformation by accelerating the deployment of their hybrid cloud solutions.

This migration does come with challenges, particularly for those enterprises who access the internet through CSPs. They have been experiencing low performance, due to non-traffic prioritisation and security issues when connecting to these platforms. This is where carriers have a key role to play. It is imperative, as trusted players in this field, that we support the migration to this new cloud model in order to meet the needs of our customers.

The WAN2Cloud service offers Telefónica’s carrier customers the best way to connect their current corporate VPN to the CSP selected by the customer. It includes configuration, administration, maintenance and management, and is underpinned by a quality service guaranteed by Telefónica with a delivery time of 15 working days. End customers simply require a Telefónica Business Solutions VPN and existing contract with a CSP – it’s not necessary for Telefónica Business Solutions to be in charge of the customer’s entire MPLS network.

Telefónica has commercial and operational agreements with the main public CSPs, and has deployed global connectivity to these CSPs and agreed a strong service and operational model. The WAN2Cloud service offers connectivity to third party CSP such as Microsoft Azure and Office 365, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform in Europe, the Americas and Asia and IBM SoftLayer.

It also provides the same connectivity to Telefónica Cloud services such as Colocation/Housing and Virtual Data Centre (VDC) from Telefónica’s main data centres: Alcalá Tier IV Gold Data Centre in Madrid, KeyCenter Tier III Data Centre in Miami and Tamboré Tier III Gold Data Centre in Sao Paulo.
