Route Mobile launches Tier 3 data centre in Singapore

Messaging and voice API company Route Mobile has opened a new Tier 3 data centre in Singapore.

The facility, which began operations over the Easter weekend, will offer Route Mobile’s international base of customers with improved latency and reduced delivery time, it claimed.

It takes the total number of data centres owned by Route Mobile to five, with Singapore chosen because it is both the location of Route Mobile’s Asia Pacific regional head office, and also provides a strategic location for the company and its partners.

The Tier 3 data centre will leverage an in-built redundant set-up, which Route Mobile expects to deliver near zero downtime, along with both horizontal and vertical scalability.

It is the next step in a recent drive by Route Mobile to boost its presence in the APAC region. Last year, it bought long-term strategic partner Defero Mobile, which is also headquartered in Singapore. The move saw Derek Tan, former MD at Defero, become Route Mobile's CEO for the APAC region.

“We are excited that we’ll be able to service our international customers even better," said Tan. “The opening of a Tier 3 data center in such a strategic location marks another milestone in our journey.

“It highlights our commitment to our international customers, allowing them to benefit from improved latency, reduced delivery times and increased scalability. This is key in accelerating the globalization of Route Mobile.”
