Windstream announces expansion of Dallas metro network

Windstream has announced a major expansion of its metro fibre network in Dallas, increasing services across a number of districts in the Texan city.

The expansion will see Windstream offering Dallas’ growing business community fixed wireless infrastructure and fibre, with network solutions such as SD-WAN, voice and unified communications, network security, and cloud services.

It will grow the footprint of the company’s network, plus add new services for customers that Windstream already offers to customers in other locations on its 129,000 mile network.

Windstream said its network expansion will benefit customers operating in Dallas’ Central Business District, and Design and Medical Districts, while it also unveiled plans for future expansions in the Park Cities, Preston Hollow, Galleria, and Addison areas.

“Our expansion in Dallas is part of an ongoing initiative to upgrade our high-speed fiber network infrastructure, including both our long-haul network nationwide and our metro fiber networks in specific markets,” said Chris Nein, regional president for Windstream.

“This ambitious project will result in a new level of connectivity and network stability for businesses in the Dallas area, and we are proud to support the city’s business community in this important way.”

The expansion is part of a wider initiative which will see Windstream expand metro networks in a number of cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia.
