Deutsche Telekom invests in SD-WAN provider Aryaka

Deutsche Telekom was one of the investors in SD-WAN provider Aryaka as the Californian firm secured $45 million in its latest round of financing.

Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners (DTCP), along with Third Point Ventures and a number of existing investors, put in money that Aryaka says it will use to expand its global reach.

Aryaka provides software-defined wide area networks that combined purpose-built provate networks, SD-WAN, optimisation and acceleration techniques, which it delivers as a service.

“Aryaka is a leading SD-WAN provider that addresses the connectivity needs of modern global enterprises as they require fast and stable performance for their mission-critical applications anywhere in the world,” said Jack Young, Partner and Head of Venture Capital at DTCP.

“The company’s ability to deploy connectivity within days, and deliver significantly faster application performance in global locations uniquely addresses the shortcomings of other connectivity solutions, such as MPLS, and Internet-based SD-WANs.”

The investment comes after a strong year for the firm, in which saw its revenue growth surpass 100% for five consecutive quarters. It has more than 500 global enterprise customers and operates sites in 63 countries around the world.

Aryaka also announced the appointment of Aidan Cullen as its new chief financial officer following the successful round of funding. Cullen has held positions with CliQr Technology (Cisco), Broadsoft and Nortel.

“We are excited about the funding from Third Point Ventures and from DTCP, which is the first telecommunications company to make a major investment in global SD-WAN,” said Shawn Farshchi, president and CEO at Aryaka Networks.

“This investment further validates our global SD-WAN technology and sends a signal to the market that Aryaka represents the future of global connectivity.”
