1-Net in Myanmar data centre deal with Burst Networks

1-Net and Burst Networks have signed an agreement to partner on the development of Burst's new data centre in Myanmar.

1-Net Singapore has signed an agreement to partner with Burst Networks in Myanmar, providing data center consultancy, support and design capabilities for its new facility.

The data centre is located in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Yangon. It is Myanmar’s first accredited Tier IV data centre.

DealStreet Asia has reported that the data centre and its network were approved last October, with Burst raising $12 million to build both. Burst expects the facilities to be ready March 2017 and open for business in April. Burst plans to use $8 million for the part that covers the data center, civil works, satellite equipment.

The remaining $4 million will for operations, expanding satellite network and wifi networks in the country. Burst is looking to existing partner CA for investment and hopes to bring on additional strategic partners.
