Cable ONE expands network with Seattle-based PoP

Cable ONE Business has expanded its US-wide network with the launch of a new point of presence (PoP) in Equinix’s data centre inside the Westin Building Exchange in Seattle, Washington.

The new PoP will allow Westin Building Exchange tenants the opportunity to exchange IP traffic with Cable ONE’s nationwide network. It also provides access to Cable ONE’s extensive IP network through 10GE and GigE ports, and as a result, both new and existing customers will be able to experience increased throughput, reduced latency and improved reliability.

“Cable ONE Business is excited to provide our carrier partners with a connection point in the Westin Building Exchange,” said Chris Boone, vice president of business services for Cable ONE.

“Adding a connection point in the Seattle hub enables us to decrease latency, reduce hop counts and increase reliability for our partners and their customers in the Pacific Northwest. The addition of the Seattle PoP to our network adds a critical metropolitan connection point in the previously underserved Western US.”

The Westin Building Exchange, situated in downtown Seattle, provides premium connectivity options to one of North America’s key metropolitan areas, home to one of the largest network traffic routes in the country. It offers more than 60,000 sq ft of colocation space and supplies a full range of premium colocation, interconnection and support services.

The PoP is the company’s first in the state and Cable ONE Business now has PoPs in eight major metropolitan cities, including Seattle, Boise, Phoenix, Kansas City, Dallas, Corpus Christi, Chicago and Atlanta.
