HGC expands ibizCloud into Vietnam with CMC Telecom

Hong Kong-based Hutchison Global Communications (HGC) has launched cloud services in Hanoi in association with Vietnamese operator CMC Telecom.

The service, ibizCloud, will provide global cloud computing service that includes infrastructure and bandwidth to meet the needs of multinational and local corporations, said the company. Availability of ibizCloud will simplify management of the transmission and storage of huge volumes of data.

Andrew Kwok, president of international and carrier business at HGC’s parent, Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong, said that ibizCloud “offers a remarkable business opportunity to provide local and international corporate customers with a highly-secure global cloud service”.

He added: “Creation of a cloud site in Hanoi has further strengthened our position in the Greater Mekong sub-region. It is also another successful example of HGC’s niche market strategy.”

The move comes 18 months after HGC launched ibizCloud in Cambodia, in association with internet provider Ezecom, based in Phnom Penh. Two months later HGC launched the service in Thailand with Symphony Communication.

CMC Telecom’s CEO Ngo Trong Hieu said that the Vietnam “cooperation is an extension of existing collaboration between CMC Telecom and HGC, which was formalised by an agreement between the two parties regarding international data and voice services”.

Hieu added: “Outstanding ibizCloud features – such as cost savings, flexibility, network scalability and compatibility with ODVLL – will go a long way to meeting the cloud computing needs of international and domestic corporate customers. We look forward to prosperous co-operation with HGC over coming years, as we seek to satisfy rapidly growing demand in the cloud market and affirm our position as one of Vietnam’s leading telecoms service providers.”
