Broadsoft launches contextual intelligence to its unified comms suite

Broadsoft has launched a new suite of unified communications solutions which will let carriers maximise their SDN and NFV investments.

Broadsoft, the unified communication (UC) software as a service (UCaaS) company, today announced at its user conference in San Antonio, Texas, the launch of BroadSoft Hub, a new enterprise cloud service which integrates real-time communications with cloud applications and contextual intelligence. The Hub provides BroadSoft Business users with immediate and easy access to relevant information for every conversation - wherever they are, on whatever device.

Broadsoft has acknowledged to Capacity that a large number of international carriers are using, and more are planning to use, their solutions as well as selling them on to their enterprise and SME customers.

Broadsoft’s cloud-based unified communications suite is currently far ahead of the competition with almost 13m of an installed base compared to Cisco’s 4m and Metaswitch’s 2m with the rest of its main six rivals trailing far behind.

The Broadsoft solutions are seeing a sharp uptake from some of the biggest international carriers such as AT&T, BT, Deutsche Telekom, Verizon, Vimpelcom and many others planning to use them as quickly as they can roll out their software defined network (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) platforms.

According to a 2014 Hubspot research report, an average of 31 hours per month is spent in unproductive meetings, with much of this time taken up searching through information scattered across locations, devices and applications1. As a result, claims Broadsoft, business processes and workflows often become fragmented, causing productivity to fall.

BroadSoft Hub provides users with a single unified experience, bringing together BroadSoft Business applications - UC-One, Team-One and CC-One - and cloud apps with contextual information, such as recent files, emails, social media engagements, tasks and instant messaging sessions, without opening or searching through additional applications. The new contextual additions, which were demonstrated at the San Antonio show, make the solutions particularly useful to mobile users.

Until recently wholesale carriers have not had the type of sophisticated infrastructures able to run Broadsoft’s UC suite – now that they have they are queueing up to install UC solutions, particularly as the enterprise uses more and more mobile workers who need to be able to work with multiple mobile devices easily and with the best possible quality.

“By combining contextual intelligence with UC, BroadSoft Hub transforms communications into smart conversations. The new service increases productivity, optimizes process workflows and elevates the user experience,” said Scott Hoffpauir, chief technology officer, BroadSoft. “By placing the user at the heart of their integrated cloud applications, they have the tools ready to manage information overload and navigate through information effortlessly and instinctively.”

BroadSoft Hub will be available to all customers through multiple channels from March 2017.
