Bulgaria to join Eurasian TASIM transit link project

Bulgarian officials have signed a preliminary agreement to join Azerbaijan’s largest telecoms project, the Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) fibre backbone project.

TASIM

Azerbaijan initiated TASIM and Bulgaria is set to join consortium partners – consisting of Azerbaijan (AzInTelecom), China (China Telecom), Kazakhstan (KazTransCom), Russia (Rostelecom), and Turkey (TurkTelecom) - in constructing TASIM and will research options for using the networks of Bulgarian operators for the project.

The two sides signed a preliminary agreement to cooperate within the project, "which envisages the creation of a major transit link from Frankfurt to Hong Kong," reports Trend news agency.

According to Trend the agreement was signed at the fourth session of the Azerbaijan-Bulgaria inter-governmental commission on trade and economic cooperation held in Baku, Azerbaijan, last week.
