Limelight Networks unveils new PoP in Kuala Lumpur

Content delivery provider Limelight Networks has announced a new Point of Presence in Kuala Lumpur as part of an expansion of the companies content delivery network.

The new PoP is expected to increase capacity, reliability and add significantly faster network speeds, the company said, with throughput expected to increase by more than 25% and response rates on the up by 24%.

Figures from Cisco claim that, by 2020, there will be early 4.1 billion global internet users and 26.3 billion networked devices and connections globally. In the Southeast Asia region, however, just 47% of people say they are happy with their digital experience, a report from SAP found.

Limelight has more than 80 PoPs globally and offers 15 terabytes per second of egress capacity. Over the past year, it has increased its capacity in the APAC region by more than 200% and grown the number of PoPs by more than 50%.

“It’s important to us to provide the highest possible quality performance globally and we have been expanding our network throughout the Asia Pacific region,” said Jaheer Abbas, Southeast Asia regional director at Limelight Networks.

“This is incredibly important for any business that delivers digital content or engages with consumers online. Consumers today demand the highest quality online experiences every time, on every device, and from any location.”
