Mobily completes regional interconnection with Iraq

Saudi Arabia’s Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) has completed the implementation of a regional interconnection project with Iraq.

Fibre-optic cables stretching more than 80km from the city of Arar, the capital of the Northern Borders Province in Saudi Arabia, to the Iraqi border were implemented to complete the project. It enhances broadband speed for this route in the Middle East.

Mobily has already boosted its regional and internal footprint by interconnecting with Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE.

The news comes afterMobily and STC announced a deal to explore options for the sale of their network towers and Mobily connected to the high-capacity submarine cable (Asia-Africa-Europe-1) in Jeddah.
