NTT Com adds two PoPs to global IP network

NTT Communications has expanded its Tier-1 global IP network with two new points of presence (PoPs) at e-shelter data centres in Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany.

The PoPs at NTT Com’s subsidiary facilities will expand wholesale IP provider’s global connectivity options for customers, including its IP transit services, Layer 2 Ethernet solutions and DDoS protection service.

The PoP deployment at e-shelter’s 60,000 square metre Datacenter Campus Frankfurt 1 represents the company’s fourth location in the city. The other PoP is located at e-shelter’s Campus Berlin, e-shelter’s second largest site in Germany.

“We are thrilled to extend our footprint into Berlin and add a new location in Frankfurt,” said Clive Hamilton, vice president of network services at NTT Europe.

“These PoPs will help us continue to offer our growing number of customers in Germany and neighbouring countries the high-performance IP solutions they need to support content, online video, hosting, gaming, and other bandwidth-intensive applications.”

As NTT Com continues to expand in Europe, the Berlin and Frankfurt PoPs will facilitate the delivery of reliable, high-quality IP solutions to internet-centric businesses, internet service providers (ISPs) and internet content providers (ICPs) in Germany, and also offer more connectivity options to foreign companies looking to add services in these two highly strategic markets.

Toan Nguyen, director business development and cloud platform of e-shelter, added: “As the requirements on IT and network systems constantly evolve due to technical developments and the growing demand for cloud services, our customers will benefit from more global connectivity and networking options at two of our key data centre campuses. These expansions into our locations reinforce our commitment to providing solutions with the highest possible flexibility in a secure, high-availability environment.”
