Singtel’s Optus in M2M and GPS wholesale pact

The wholesale division of Australian operator Optus has announced an alliance with 2SG Wholesale to distribute machine-to-machine (M2M) and internet of things (IoT) products and capability into the wholesale reseller market, as well as GPS products.

The deal combines Optus’s M2M carriage capability with 2SG’s applications and business tools that resellers can use to provide their customers with GPS asset management, tracking and M2M capabilities.

“M2M is a growing market and this new relationship creates an exciting opportunity for resellers to participate in the market,” said John Castro, head of marketing and strategy at Optus Wholesale. Optus is owned by Singtel.

Mark Shield, managing director of 2SG Wholesale, said: “M2M is the way of the future and the business opportunities it provides are tremendous.” The company, which already provides M2M and GPS services in the transport and logistics, and mining sectors, is part of the 2SG Technology Group, which includes BIGmate, an innovator in the field of GPS tracking and asset management technology.

The relationship between Optus, which is owned by Singtel, and 2SG will see the integration of a wide array of 3G and 4G hardware into a white-labelled monitoring software platform that includes vehicle, asset, trailer, equipment and personal trackers to complex regulatory transport applications.
