GTC, which owns more than 3,100 miles of high-voltage transmission lines and more than 700 substations, will now begin collocating critical networking equipment into the carrier-neutral 55 Marietta Street, Atlanta, GA, facility.

“This move ensures that we have access to many of the key network operators in the Southeast region,” states David Van Winkle, operations and maintenance at GTC.

“In addition to its location and tenant roster, there are a number of benefits to working with Colo Atl, including exceptionally fast installation, a customer-focused and professional staff, and access to more than 90 network operators and service providers. We’re thrilled to be among the first FNA members in the facility as well. We look forward to the many partnerships this will bring.”

The agreement is significant as GTC offers peering and cross-connection to FNA members in the region, with no cross connect fees in the Colo Atl Meet Me Room (MMR). The FNA helps to align its members’ fibre network resources for the purpose of providing a unified platform to create business and operational advantage.

GTC will connect into Allied Fiber’s network via Colo Atl’s MMA to establish “bridge fibre” to create a temporary connection to its training facilities in Smarr, Georgia. It will facilitate internet connectivity and WAN networking for GTC as it migrates its networking equipment and rerouting fibre to the downtown Atlanta facility.

Tim Kiser, owner and founder of Colo Atl, added: “Georgia Transmission is the ideal tenant and technology partner of Colo Atl’s. Its FNA affiliation and strong presence in the Southeast means everyone benefits. I’m looking forward to helping facilitate the many interconnection and peering agreements that are inevitable in this agreement, and to providing those connections with no monthly recurring cross connect fees between tenants.”
