Tiscali signs wholesale partnership to access EOF fibre network

Italian ISP Tiscali has signed a broadband partnership with Enel Open Fiber (EOF) for access to its fibre-optic connections on its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network.

The ENEL Group had announced in March that it was to invest €2.5 billion ($2.8 billion) to build and operate an ultra-broadband optical fibre infrastructure across Italy for businesses and homes and it would gradually roll out EOF.

"The agreement with Enel Open Fiber has significant strategic value for Tiscali because it complements the current plan of the Access Fixed Wireless 4G LTE network development that Tiscali has begun to implement," said Riccardo Ruggiero, CEO of Tiscali. He added that it will help Tiscali to deliver ultra-broadband services in more areas nationally.

The deal will enable Tiscali offer ultra-broadband services to its customers with download speeds of up to 1Gbps on its network.
