Sparkle launches new POP in Kuala Lumpur

Sparkle has expanded its global IP backbone in Asia with a new IP PoP in Kuala Lumpur.

Sparkle, the International Services arm of Telecom Italia Group, has expanded its global IP backbone in Asia with a new IP PoP in AIMS, a premium carrier-neutral data and managed services center in Kuala Lumpur.

With the addition of this new point of presence, Sparkle increases the reach of its global IP backbone, called Seabone, in South East Asia. This is a region with fast-growing demand for advanced IP and Ethernet solutions.

The new PoP will address the increasing demand for Tier-1 IP transit service in Malaysia as well as in neighboring countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar.

The new Kuala Lumpur facility will improve the performance of Sparkle’s global IP transit service to content and service providers and their customers in South East Asia.

In addition, the new MEF-certified PoP extends Sparkle’s global MPLS backbone to more corporate customers as well as content and service providers that need to connect different international data environments through cost-effective, Ethernet solutions.

Sparkle has further plans to expand further its presence in Asia where, through its regional hub in Singapore, it is able to offer top quality east and westbound connectivity solutions that will provide the lowest possible latency by the end of this year, once the upcoming SMW5 cable is fully operational.
