Coriant selected for Turkmenistan's backbone network deployment

Turkmenistan’s ministry of communications has deployed a national backbone network with coherent DWDM, MPLS-TP and service management technologies from Coriant.

The ‘network modernisation’ initiative is designed to enable the government body to cost effectively scale transport capacity and expand transit connectivity to neighbouring countries while introducing edge-to-core provisioning flexibility to enhance bandwidth services for government, enterprise, mobile and residential end-user customers.

"Our new state-of-the-art backbone network will play a critical role in meeting the current and future communications needs of all of our citizens, while creating a strong foundation for economic development and regional cooperation," said a representative of the ministry of communications. "We chose Coriant as a partner for this project because of their demonstrated technical leadership and highly competitive solution offering."

The ministry of communications’ new packet optical transport backbone network connects all major cities of Turkmenistan, with cross-border transit provided via terrestrial LH/ULH and subsea transmission links.

Coriant’s hiT 7300 is said to provide a more cost efficient path to higher transmission rates. The service includes a complete suite of engineering, installation, testing, project management, commissioning and maintenance services.
