Sweden to auction 700MHz and 1,800MHz bands

Sweden’s telecoms regulator has invited bids for two spectrum auctions due to take place by the end of the year

The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) called for interested parties to apply to participate in the spectrum auctions of the 700MHz and 1800MHz bands.

For the 700MHz band, the regulator has set an application deadline of November 1, 2016, with the auction expected to take place on December 1, 2016. To maintain competition, bidders can buy a maximum of 2x20MHz each, guaranteeing at least two permit holders. The licences will run from April 2017 to the end of 2039.

Separately, the regulator has also announced an auction for the 1800MHz band on October 24, 2016. The spectrum is due to expire by May 2017. It is auctioning a single 5MHz block of paired 1,800MHz band and has set an application deadline of October 10, 2016. The new licence will be run from June 2017 to the end of December 2027.
