MTN appoints VP for South and East Africa

MTN has appointed Godfrey Motsa as VP for South and East Africa following a review of its governance and management structures.

Mosta, who will assume his newly appointed role on July 1, 2016, has served as chief officer for consumer business at Vodacom and head of operations at Vodacom's Democratic Republic of Congo and Lesotho.

"Motsa brings 10 years of experience of telecoms in the region to MTN," said MTN who added that the new appointments are part of a move to improve governance and strategy.

Phuthuma Nhleko, chairman of MTN Group, will revert to his role as non-executive chairman when Shuter assumes his position - expected no later than July 2017.

Earlier this week, MTN announced the appointment of Rob Shuter as new group president and CEO. Shuter is presently CEO of the European cluster at Vodafone Group and has previously held senior management roles at Vodacom Group, Standard Bank and Nedbank.
