Cisco shuffles roles of execs

Cisco Systems has expanded the responsibilities of its security unit chief and changed the roles of three other executives.

The announcements were made by CEO Chuck Robbins in an internal memo last week.

David Goeckeler, senior VP of Cisco’s computer security products and services, will continue to serve in his present capacity while taking responsibility of its core networking hardware business. Goeckeler has been at the company for 16 years and has led the security group since 2012.

Senior vice presidents Mario Mazzola, Prem Jain and Luca Cafiero have been moved to internal advisory roles at the company.

All three are managing a startup funded by Cisco called Insieme Networks. Soni Jiandani has been promoted to manage Insieme and will report directly to Robbins.
