Unveiled on the first day of International Telecoms Week in Chicago, the collaboration will enable HGC’s service provider and mobile network operator customers to expand their mainland China coverage – opening up the potential to reach over 200 million mobile users.
At the same time CTG’s global coverage will be extended via extensive Hutch-IPX reach and throughout CK Hutchison’s mobile affiliates.
The move will enable mobile operators and carriers served by both parties to use the two IPX platforms to deliver traffic generated by 4G data roaming, mobile signalling and voice-over-IP. More traffic will come from advanced IP services such as voice-over-LTE, HD video calling, media content delivery and over-the-top services with an end-to-end quality of service.
Andrew Kwok, president of international and carrier business at Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong), said: “This collaboration with CTG enables HGC’s MNO and service provider customers to deliver traffic via our global network and further expands our existing coverage in mainland China with a larger mobile subscriber base in the country.”

The CTG IPX is built on China Telecom’s leading MPLS network, which covers 312 cities in mainland China plus nearly 130 other countries.
The Hutch-IPX platform facilitates provision of comprehensive IP interconnect services such as 2G, 3G and 4G data roaming, along with mobile signalling, voice-over-IP (VoIP) and high-definition voice and video traffic, as well as BlackBerry data traffic.
