TE SubCom to upgrade SJC subsea cable

TE SubCom has signed a contract to perform its third network upgrade to the Southeast Asia Japan Cable (SJC) system.

The undersea communications technology specialist will increase capacity by 6.3Tbps by utilising its latest 100Gbps coherent transmission technology (C100U+).

“We are pleased to bring value to the SJC members by delivering state of the art technology, at competitive pricing with 100% on-time delivery,” said Aaron Stucki, president of TE SubCom.

The SJC System, which links Brunei, mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the Philippines, became operational in mid-2013.

The upgrade of the 8,986km system increases capacity to meet the continued rising demand for businesses and communications in the Asia-Pacific region and will be completed by the end of June 2016.
