Chunghwa Telecom starts operating 4G on 2,600MHz band

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has begun operating 4G on 2,600MHz spectrum bands using 3-carrier aggregation (3CA) technology.

It is reportedly the first of Taiwan’s four operators to use the 2,600MHz band. CHT’s 4G network utilised a 900MHz and two 1,800MHz bands. Last December, the operator acquired two 2,600MHz bands with a total bandwidth of 60MHz in the country's spectrum auction

The use of 3CA technology has enabled CHT’s 4G services to reach download speeds of 340Mbps.

The operator has deployed 2,600MHz base stations and 4G small cell devices in urban areas with relatively high mobile traffic.
