The Latin American PoPs are situated in Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo, Brazil; Bogota, Colombia; and Caracas, Venezuela.

“Carriers and ISPs need to present additional value to their customers in order to stand out in the competitive global telecommunications market,” said Erick Contag, president and chief operating office of GlobeNet.

“Virtualisation enhances any customer network by expanding it to critical global PoPs without having to invest in the deployment of a subsea fibre system or purchase expensive equipment.”

The wholesale provider’s service offers network infrastructure with virtual routers located in Miami and New York, enabling customers to aggregate their international capacity and manage their connections to peering fabrics. Customer managed network architecture and capacity upgrades also feature with Globenet’s virtualisation.

The US-based routers are intended to be an integral part of the customers’ networks for the delivery of their service offering. Transport services between these locations are also available as part of the offering.

GlobeNet presently provides international capacity between the Americas over a submarine cable stretching more than 23,500km.
