NEC delivers ICT infrastructure to modernise RIOgãleo airport

NEC Corporation has announced its ICT infrastructure solutions are supporting the modernisation of Brazil’s RIOgãleo airport, which includes telephony and wireless internet.

NEC is overseeing the implementation of telephony, wireless internet access, digital signage flight monitors, closed-circuit TV (CCTV), fire detection/alarm systems, and access control.

"This is an interesting and complex project, in which we are responsible for a wide variety of information and communications technology systems that need to be fully integrated with existing solutions at the international airport," said Massato Takakuwa, government business director for NEC in Brazil.

"NEC's solutions will be essential to ensuring the safety of passengers and their access to flight information, in addition to the quality of their communications via telephone and the internet."

The ICT solutions are already being implemented in the construction of the south pier of the airport, including the modernisation of Terminal 2.

Due to the complexity of this project, more than 200 NEC professionals are engaged in its activities, including specialists in multiple IT and telecommunications systems.

The contract for this project was originally signed for in June 2015.
