NTT DoCoMo launches multi-vendor NFV platform

NTT DoCoMo has launched a multi-vendor NFV platform on its commercial network, with technology provided by Ericsson.

The open NFV platform is said to provide interoperability and connectivity with any carrier class NFV and SDN.

The solution is based on open architecture and initially supports a multi-vendor virtual EPC deployment.

The virtualised environment is said to enable NTT DoCoMo to accelerate the delivery of new services over a stable and interoperable network.

“We believe our mutual experiences from the Open Platform for NFV (OPNFV) network architecture will accelerate global standardisation and interoperability. We will continue to bring cost effective network operation and flexible, dynamic resource management for them," said Anders Lindblad, SVP and head of business unit cloud & IP at Ericsson.
