TeliaSonera said to prepare sale of Spanish mobile unit Yoigo

TeliaSonera is reportedly preparing the sale of its 77% stake in Spanish mobile unit Yoigo.

The operator is said to be expecting bids of approximately €600 million in the coming weeks.

Masmovil Ibercom and Zegona – the investment vehicle that acquired regional broadband operator Telecable – have reportedly expressed interest in the acquisition, according to Spanish daily the Expansion.

The company that acquires Yoigo – the fourth largest mobile network operator in the Spanish market – will be well positioned to provide quad play services in the country. Yoigo presently has 3.3 million customers with a market share of over 6%.

In 2012, TeliaSonera terminated the sale of the unit after failing to attract offers that were high enough. Orange and Vodafone were said to be among the bidders.
