CCT allowed to participate in British Virgin Islands auction

Caribbean Cellular Telephone (CCT) has received the go-ahead to participate in the 700MHz spectrum auction in the British Virgin Islands, according to a ruling by the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

The auction, which has been on hold since October 2015, will resume following CCT's request to halt the tender after the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission in the British Virgin Islands blocked its participation.

The ruling overturns the TRC's rejection of the operator’s application. In addition it enables CCT to retain its present spectrum despite the TRC’s  call for the release of 25% of its spectrum as a registration requirement for the auction.

Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) and Digicel are also participants in the auction.
