Hurricane Electric launches Finland PoP

Hurricane Electric has extended its global network to Finland with the launch of its latest PoP in Helsinki.

Located at the Pasila Broadcast Tower at the Digita Data Center, Radiokatu 5B in Helsinki, the PoP will provide customers with access to Hurricane Electric’s IPv4 and IPv6 network via 100GE, 10GE and GigE.

“We are excited to extend our network into Finland, a nation with an impressive background in digital infrastructure,” said Mike Leber, president at Hurricane Electric Internet Services.

“This connection will provide customers at the Digita Data Center with direct access to Hurricane Electric’s rich global network as well as access to Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), helping them identify the shortest path for reduced network hops and faster traffic delivery.”

Digita Oy is a Finnish service provider and the Digita Data Center is housed at the hub of data communications in Finland at Helsinki’s TV and radio transmission tower.

The data centre complies with the European Commission’s Code of Conduct on data centre infrastructure efficiency (DCiE) and it features a transfer network as well as high quality fibre connectivity.

“We look forward to strengthening our presence in this vital region and helping to meet the demand for high speed IP transit within Finland’s diverse business markets,” Leber added.

In 2015, Hurricane Electric unveiled a second PoP in Spain, and also entered the Serbian market with the establishment of a PoP in Belgrade.
