SES pens connectivity deal with regional Canadian government

Satellite provider SES has signed a contract with the Kativik Regional Government in Canada for the delivery of satellite services across Northern Quebec.

The deal will come into effect in the second half of 2016 and will see 12 transponders positioned on the SES-2 satellite which is located at 87 degrees West.

The satellite is SES’s youngest in the US and the deal was allegedly the largest government award in Canada in 2015 in terms of transponder numbers.

SES-2 will deliver C-band communications services to more than 14 communities and the company hopes this to triple the amount of bandwidth available across the region by the year end.
