Thailand could raise as much as $4.45 billion from auctions

Thailand could raise as much as $4.45 billion (160 million baht) from its two recent 4G spectrum auctions, according to its deputy prime minister Somkid Jatusripitak.

asThe country launched the second half of its 4G spectrum sale on Tuesday, auctioning bids for two licences in the 900MHz band. 

Bid prices have reportedly reached $2.05 billion (74.03 billion baht) or 1.03 billion (37.01 billion baht) per licence.  

The same four operators who participated in the earlier 1800MHz spectrum – Advanced Info Service (AIS), True Corp, DTAC and Jasmine International – are bidding in the latest spectrum auction. November’s auction raised $2.26 billion, with AIS and True emerging as winners.
