Ooredoo signs three vendor partnership agreements

Ooredoo has signed three vendor partnership agreements as it aims to grow its global footprint further.

The Qatari operator has signed a five year frame supply agreement with Alcatel-Lucent for ultra-broadband IP transport networks. It builds on a long-term collaboration between the two companies, and will see Alcatel-Lucent supply full packet microwave, high bandwidth optical networking and IP routing platforms.

It will support its operations across the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific. “Our agreement with Alcatel-Lucent builds on our long-standing collaboration with this international leader and strengthens our network as we continue to strive to enrich our customers’ lives by providing cutting-edge digital and mobile services,” said Ahmed Al Derbesti, COO, Ooredoo Group.

Ooredoo has also signed a five year frame agreement with Ericsson for radio, core and transmission solutions. The agreement includes Ericsson’s software model, which offers predefined software value packages that are said to bring better performance and reduce time to market for new functionalities.

“This group frame agreement will allow us to benefit from Ericsson’s latest hardware, software and services. It will allow us to differentiate our end user offering and will give us the competitive edge that we need,” said Al Derbesti.

Finally, Ooredoo has signed a five year extension to its strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei. The extension will see the provision of a variety of solutions such as advanced 2G, 3G, LTE, LTE-A, antenna, microwave, virtualised core and IP multimedia subsystem mobile broadband technologies.

“By expanding our relationship with industry leaders like Huawei, we are confident that Ooredoo can continue to offer a better customer experience, strengthen our foundations, and continue to launch new and innovative services that enrich people’s lives,” said H.E Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani, group CEO, Ooredoo.
